Program Description

Event Details

Kumihimo is a traditional Japanese braiding technique, combining intricate strands of colored yarns and silk cords.  The art form has been used for both decorative and functional elements in scrolls, Samurai armor, and kimonos.  Learn how to make a basic kumihimo braid that can be turned into a bracelet or used as decoration. You will work on a handmade loom from cardboard, which is less confusing than a traditional kumihimo loom and easier for learning & travelling with.
