Program Description

Event Details

In a TechRoots Academy Class, students will learn and gain an understanding in how to code their own website, game, or mobile application. Each week will build upon itself and by the end they will have their own custom coded website! Coding and STEM based education teaches children more than science and mathematics concepts. The focus on hands-on learning with real-world applications helps develop a variety of skill sets, including creativity and problem solving.

We begin with HTML as it is considered to be the building block of the Web. Shortly after comes CSS, which covers the web page's appearance/presentation, followed by JavaScript, which covers it's functionality/behavior. Throughout the first month of the course, the students will create their own website that they can take home. Our main hope and goal is to extend our knowledge in software and coding to the youth, so that they may either develop a passion for computer science or expand their knowledge in technology.

Students are encouraged to bring their own laptops if possible, but they will be provided for those who are unable to bring one!
