June 20th is World Refugee Day https://www.unhcr.org/world-refugee-day  The Mahwah Library is honoring that day with the sculpture Refugees, a sculpture by Judith Peck which it has been privileged to have on display in front of the library for a designated one year. Dr. Peck will be seated by the sculpture from 1:00 to 4:00 on June 20th inviting passing visitors to the Mahwah Library to share their views on immigration and if they wish, questions of how she came to create Refugees. Peck’s sculpture is consistently themed with issues about people, their strengths and conundrums. Four life size ladies of steel are currently displayed on the Dag Hammarskjold Plaza in New York City, the steel medium conveying the inner strength of women in their daily multi-tasked care and concern for children, partners, home, job and career. The installation period of Refugees at the library ends June 23rd.
