Event Details
When and how the Blues started is difficult to ascertain with precision as music recording happened only after the birth of the Blues. John Groom will follow the development of this music from its humble origins through the people that made it famous such the lady singers, W. C. Handy and Louis Armstrong and then discusses the music of the original blues troubadours such as Charlie Patton, Blind Lemon Jefferson, “Son” House and Robert Johnson. Finally how the Blues influence in the USA became the foundation of the many varieties of “Rock” that appeared and developed in the USA in the 1970’s and 80s. This is it’s story. This program is both in person in the library and live streaming via Zoom. Register is necessary on mahwahlibrary.org events calendar to receive the Zoom Link (Don't forget to give us your email address).
