George Washington was the father of our country, but he was also a son and a husband. Who were these key figures in his life and how did they affect him? Jan Blau will examine George Washington's personal journey and relationships, giving us a look at his father's first marriage, (which produced his half-brother Lawrence), his difficult mother Mary Ball, his relationship with his powerful neighbors, the Fairfaxes (including his love letter to his best friends' wife, Sally Fairfax), how he met Martha, and his relationships with Lafayette and Hamilton. Registration is necessary. This program is in person only.
