Program Description

Event Details

The Great Depression began with the stock market crash of 1929 and lasted for more than 10 years.  Unemployment was above 15% throughout the 1930s. Nearly 10,000 banks failed. Topics include the Hoover stimulus measures, FDR’s New Deal programs, the Bank Holiday, gold standard, and financial reforms.
