Event Details
Yah-Oh-Way means “It is good” in Hopi. This exciting and athletic performance by the Thunderbird American Indian Dancers highlights the depth and complexity of several Native American societies. Witness the origins and meanings of songs, dances, and traditions of many tribes that inhabited North America before the arrival of Europeans. By participating in traditional ceremonies - including the Feather Dance, an expression of thanksgiving - attendees are encouraged to honor and appreciate the history and cultural diversity of Native American peoples.
Founded in 1963, Thunderbird American Indian Dancers is the oldest Native American dance company in New York. The company has toured across the U.S. and internationally, including performances at the National Museum of the American Indian, the American Museum of Natural History, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
This show is for all ages! We welcome children, teens, adults, and families to join us.
